Today was a much needed rest day, and I’m not talking about an active recovery rest day. I’m talking about the kind of rest day where you don’t even hit 3,000 steps. I seriously haven’t had a do-nothing rest day for months, as I’d always make sure to at least get in my 10,000 steps.
I was just exhausted and so sore when I woke up, and it stayed that way throughout the entire day. But holy crap was I sore. I was expecting my legs to be sore after yesterday’s killer leg workout and run, and they were; but my arms were also sore, and I definitely was not expecting that. I don’t know if it was because of the arm exercises I did, or if it was something else, but both my delts were feeling it.
I spent most of the day watching some TV and spent an hour or so reading outside, to at least not stay cooped up inside all day. I finished Scott Jurek’s Eat and Run, my 17th book of the year. If I haven’t been doing more running, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much (I have tried to read it when I wasn’t running, and couldn’t commit to it), but I give it a 4/5 stars.

I also went to the grocery store, again, mainly to get out of the house.

I’d say half of this is a normal grocery haul, and the other half is new or rare purchases. This trip was mainly snack oriented; as in, getting things for proper snacks. My mom did go to the store yesterday, and picked up some oranges, spinach, and bread, so those are 3 items that I didn’t have to buy this time around. Here’s what I got:
- Ground Turkey
- Avocados
- Gala Apples
- Baby Carrots
- Frozen Broccoli
- Bananas
- Coffee Creamer
- Deli Chicken Meat (rare)
- Garlic Hummus (rare)
- Melba Toasts (new)
- Cheese Snack Bites (new)
- Vanilla Pure Protein Drinks (new/rare)
- Rice Cakes (rare)
This should last me until Wednesday or Thursday, depending on when I run out of ground turkey. But I’m excited for the new snacks I have in mind!
As for my eating, it really was not the best. I don’t think I went over board, to an extent, but I did have 3 brownies. What can I say, it was one of those days. For dinner we ended up ordering from BJ’s , where I got a classic burger (sub Turkey patty) and steamed broccoli as a side. No regrets, it was so good. Sometimes we just need to treat ourselves. I’ll get back to my regular eating habits, and workouts, tomorrow.
